The Resource Center's function is to provide the above mentioned services to Adult Partial Hospital consumers and staff. The Center operates daily and serves all members and staff with their informational needs. Consumers and staff who require informational assistance recieve the full benefit of the expertise of the milieu participants, as well as the ability to receive or borrow the materials offered. All the Adult Partial Hospital participants have access to the internet through the aid of a Resource Center member. A person in need of service enters the Center to be greeted by a receptionist who assists in the completion of the consumer's request. Should information not be presently available, a request is logged to research the information.
The Resource Center promotes consumer empowerment and independance, while assisting in the development of interpersonal skills. In today's informational society, the ability to function and communicate is directly associated with a person's ability to access information. The Resource Center's goal is to provide information services which will promote the consumer's sense of self-worth and well-being.
